630 nm RED

470 nm BLUE

The blue light produces toxic, highly reactive forms of oxygen within the bacteria that damage their cell membranes and the sugary coatings that encase and protect them. At higher radiant exposures, blue light exhibits a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Blue light therapy is a clinically accepted approach for Propionibacterium acnes infections.
